Learn the basics of oil painting in the tradition of the old masters. We'll study the behavior of light and learn to accurately identify the interaction between light, shadow, texture and pattern while refining the painterly gestures to express what we see with oil. By focusing on the foundations, we will apply these skills to create visually rich oil paintings. This class is a good introduction for those new to painting with oil, as well as a great refresher for those who are already familiar with this medium.
